Hi my name is Caroline! I’m here to share my experience. It was quite an adventure moving from Brazil to the U.S.A and starting a new life there. I can confirm that my first day at an American school was both nerve-wracking and exciting.

It’s interesting to hear about the cultural differences that you notice between American and Brazilian schools. The lunchtime experience stood out to me, with the variety of food options available, like rice & chicken, pizza, and cheeseburgers. And the fact that they offered chocolate milk instead of juice or water was a big surprise for me! It’s fascinating how different countries have unique food offerings in school cafeterias.

Another difference that I noticed was the flexibility in choosing classes. In American schools, students can select their own classes based on their interests and academic goals. It’s different from the structured curriculum where all students in a grade have the same schedule in Brazil. And the idea of students moving to different classrooms instead of teachers is also a unique aspect of American schools.

I’m happy to have made friends like Cammie, one of my best friends, she helped me navigate the new school environment. It’s amazing how friendships can make such a difference in adapting to a new place.

As I continued my journey and moved on to high school, it was fantastic to know I became fluent in English and Spanish. Learning new languages opens up so many opportunities and broadens your horizons.

The football games and cheerleaders added so much excitement and school spirit to my high school experience. Cheering for my school team and feeling the energy of the crowd was such a thrilled moment. After 5 years in the U.S.A, I decided to come back to Brazil.
